Whiff that..

I never really elaborate on what I do for the summer.  To keep it simple - grunt work.  When my paycheck comes I just remind myself that I earned it.  And today my co-workers and I earned it.

All through the night it stormed with heavy rains - about 1.5 inches in Brookings.  When I got to work at 7:00 am, my boss said that Steph and I needed to clean up under the football stadium since the football camp had a supper underneath it last night.  Throwing on rain coats we headed out there.

Out of curiosity and half getting a conversation going I asked Steph "what do you think the worst job is in the world?"  Little did I know I would be experiencing it within minutes.

As we drove under the stadium we saw all the trash cans were full of leftovers, a substance looking like vomit, and water.  Some had lids covering it, some were uncovered.  It had fermented over night with the water and heat.  (You can start gagging anytime.)

Luckily, Kevin and Matt were sent over to help dump the trash cans into the dumpsters. As the two guys hoisted up the first one a stomach-wrenching odor came rushing out with the garbage.  Instantly all four of us started to gag….

It was worse than any feedlot smell…. worse than any exploding diaper… worse than any outhouse.
It was HORRIBLE.

In total there were about seven trash cans that had this concoction.
We got the rest of the day off.
