Hitching a Ride

Today I was pumped for the second deed, but what to do?  I can foresee this challenge getting interesting for my intrapersonal communication side.  (Yes, I am applying my courses to my fun-ness and yes, I know I am a nerd :)  As Evan told me - kindness is difficult to force, typically it just happens.  Very true… darn.

Anyways, I do not have a parking pass and bless my class's little heart that starts at 3:00 p.m. on Thursdays.  The time when you can park on campus without getting a $50 fine is 4:00 p.m.  So I had to hoof it about 5 blocks to get to the farthest corner of campus (Bio-stress).  I was cold going, and when I had to walk back to my car I was a little colder and crankier.  Crawling into my car I thought about how nice it would have been if someone had offered me a ride… I would have taken it because get real, who would really want to capture me.  That would be pure torture for them.

As I was approaching the four-way stop by Pugsley when I saw Brittany (a fellow classmate) walking.  She looked cold and was wearing heels, so I thought maybe she needed a ride.  As I rolled down my window, I asked her if she wanted a ride to her car but luckily her car was in the next lot over. She declined.  I thought for a split second to ask the next one coming up to the crosswalk, but decided not to.  I do not want to be known as the creeper picking up lil' college kids and giving them rides.  That's just not normal!

I do not count an attempt and fail as a act of kindness; therefore, as I was buying Subway I pre-bought the girl behind me a cookie.  Again I hightailed it out because I don't want any awkward moments.

Noted for everyone: Offer rides, but only to selective people, otherwise you are weird.

  1. Oh boy! Look at you go! Tomorrow is 'Make A Difference Day' for Life 96.5. Apparently the idea is to buy the car behind you's order. Clearly you're two steps ahead! :)
