Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust.

I live a colorful life. Here is another "Emily Story."

I walked into the apartment on Saturday and my roommate was really upset. Curiousity will kill me. I asked what the problem was. Nick said that his sister had spent the night on Wednesday and was going to move from Omaha to Alabama, so that she left him some items she didn't want to move.

Nick: "She left pictures, dishes, silverware, my mother's ashes..." (Nick's mom passed about 10 yrs ago from cancer.)
Me: "Whoa what?! Your mother's body!"
Nick: "Yeah, Gwen was suppose to spread her ashes over Hawaii..."
Me: "Um, congratulations on having your mother? Or maybe I should say I'm sorry? Um, never had this situation before... Are you going to spread her ashes over Brookings?"
Nick: "I dont know if Gwen forgot or what, but I thought mom was in Hawaii. I probably will just keep her until this summer until I go to the Black Hills."
Me: "Oh, well that's nice.... by the way where is your mom?"
Nick: "In the living room."

My little Brookings family has grown to: a 32 yr male roommate, 3 gnomes in a closet, and Nick's mom's ashes. Homey.
