I'm a Bird, You're a Bird...

Yesterday was filled with adventures with Jen. Earlier in the week the Canaries called me and asked if I was interested in doing a couple of mascot appearances. It was an easy way to make some money and get a decent workout. On Friday I picked up Cagey and was set for the 2 appearances on Saturday.

Jenny was such a good friend and agreed to help me out by being my driver. Actually I am pretty sure she felt she had no way out because what else do you have going on at 9:00am Saturday? NOTHING :)

Appearance #1: Make - a- Wish Bull Riding 9:00 a.m.
I thought I would be able to mechanical bull ride or something crazy as Cagey. Nope not the case. It was at the Ramada Inn and was a breakfast. Still a good case and the kiddos were super cute! Cowboys were the featured guests... so I just mingled and had a good time messing with everyone. After 45 minutes, Jen escorted me out and the big bird jumped in the back seat to go to the next appearance.

Appearance #2: Down Syndrom walk 10:00 a.m.
I was HOT after going only an hour. But still had another hour of appearances. This was at the Sertoma Park and was in the bright sun. SAUNA EFFECT! I managed to play on the playground equipment, dance with the kids and Phil Baker, hug everyone twice, and make 1 little girl scream like she saw a murderer. Amazing day! I learned a couple of things too. The first thing is that how thankful and lucky people are to have healthy babies. I pray baby Kuecker is going to be healthy. And the second thing is if someone is a mascot they probably have horrible self esteem after performing. Alright I don't, but here is the reason... everyone is yelling your name and slapping your hands while you are the mascot.... than take it off and well no one looks at you, yells your name, or slaps your hand. Interesting pysic thing!

By noon Jen and I were headed back to get ready for the day! We meet back up for lunch at the Cookie Jar... I wouldn't recommend it. It was pretty gross, but the company was good!

Off to conquer the bike trail. That was wiiiiiccckked! Jen had read that it was only 14 miles. A friend of hers said 19. Well I was banking on Jens.... after a while of riding we took a mini break. Started riding again... took another mini break. Started riding again... looked at a map and WHAT THE HECK?!? It had us looping past the airport. We couldn't just quit riding cuz we were on the opposit side of town! So we kept going... finally I couldn't take it and had to ask a bike passer... how long was this trail?! 21 miles. OMG I didn't think I could do it.

Jen and I only had to take 3 mini breaks... but long story short... we made it! It's only 19 miles long too. In the future, take a pillow to sit on, water, snacks, and wear fashionable sunglasses because everyone is friendly then. They know you're a newbie :)
