First and foremost I want to reassure everyone that I will be blogging about our wedding and the bachelorette party. Today isn't the day because I need to wrap my head around everything still. But I do have some crazy news about interviews.
I have been pretty low key about exposing my interviews and possible job opportunities. But today I decided to tell you about yesterday. On Wednesday I had two interviews in the morning. The first was with a contracting company for creative marketing. I was leery at first because basically it is an employment agency that constantly is giving you different assignments with companies. I am pretty set on just getting a job, getting the perks, and settling down for a bit. However, the more I think about it the more I like it. I will have the opportunity to work at Best Buy, General Mills, Target, Olson Agency, UnitedHealth, etc. while making connections. Many times the contractors become full-time employees. This is one way to get your foot in the door…. especially at GenMills and Target. Another perk is that I get to experience an array of work. People constantly are asking what I want to do and my response is horrible - I don't know. Each job I have held has been so different with such a wide demographic. If I were to look at them and tell them that I actually enjoyed being a mascot, mowing lawns, painting, playing with elementary kids, sporting events, making sub sandwiches, and creating newsletters, I would get a bewildered look of 'she is crazy.' What makes work is the co-workers. Did I actually love dicing tomatoes at Subways, crawling into a smelling bird costume, or being yelled at by disgruntled fans? No. But I did like how each day was crazy, fun, and my wonderful co-workers. So this contracting position will hopefully help me figure out what environment I like and what the type of work I enjoy.
Anyways, during the contracting company's interview I was talking and all of a sudden the interviewer stopped me and said exclaimed "are they doing yoga over there?" Sure enough when I turned around and I spied a class full of stretchy men and women doing Downward Dog. Now I have said a lot of things during interviews and there have been a lot of weird questions but never anything about peeping on a yoga class across the street. I laughed awkwardly because seriously, this was my future I was dealing with and that lady could do was talk about the yoga class!
Long story short, I was brought onto the contracting agency and was sent on an interview at a Fortune 500 company. Hope for the best!
