I down play what I do quite a bit because what most people see is pretty ridiculous. I told my mom I just throw out t-shirts. She doesn't really know of my other activities :), so basically her oldest daughter sounds like a Class A loser. And side note: she just discovered last weekend what my major was... oh dear... she thought I was journalism. Nope it gets nerdier: Speech Communications.. I LOVE THEORIES!She has come to a few SDSU games and has seen my work at the Canaries. It is definitely special when my family comes. She once said that she didn't even watch the game because she was so focused on watching me. A lot of times I am either standing watching the game waiting for the next promotion or disappeared to get something ready behind the scenes, so I am not sure what she watched?

This weekend a couple of people did come up and ask about my work with the Canaries. It is nice to have people remember my former work. Yet, weird that they DO remember. Like what did I do to make them remember me... was it "Dead or Canadian?" or my amazing jokes or my dancing at the Birdcage.... if so, I apologize to the public for scarring them for life.
To everyone that are curious about what I do, just ask. Maybe I'll tell you a long version. But all you really need to know is that...
1.) I wear a polo with khakis and tennis shoes and a pony tail. Fashion no-no.
2.) I deal with fans. The best part of the job is seeing a person's smiling face and having them say "that was awesome!"
3.) The sporting event is only a show. Yes, this kills watching sports for me because I think of everyone making it run.
4.) I have never sat and watched a full athletic event at SDSU without working.
5.) I will be tired afterwards and rarely go out because I go to bed. Or because I am working the events and during the day, so at night I will do my homework. I am probably classified as lame. I think of it as a special occasion when I go out.
6.) I start out looking good before an event, but look like a tornado hit me at the end. I have not mastered this process of staying 'fresh' throughout.
7.) My younger brother is embarrassed/ proud of his sister. He is embarrassed when I 'suit up' but happy to see me on the sideline. He once asked why I couldn't have a normal job. I won't because that will kill my happiness and no more "emily stories" will happen. And we just can't have that!I will go all out if someone asks me to... aka Betsy Ross.
8.) We are the 'linemen' as Blake said. Doing the grunt work, but not nearly enough recognition as we should get.
9.) Be nice to every worker.
10.) If we ask you do to a game promotion - do it and ham it up!
