Merry Christmas Card: #63

If you don't have kids or pets like Evan and I than you may be lost on what to base your Christmas Card on.  In 2012 we had so many firsts - our first home purchase, marriage, major vacation, and two new jobs - which left us scratching our heads of 2013.  After brainstorming we had three choices to either reuse an engagement picture and turn it black and white, take a picture of our house projects (lame), or attempt one ourselves.  The last option of self timer was our choice on capturing this year's Christmas Card (#63).

Evan was not thrilled to do a photo shoot on Sunday, so I compromised by doing it in the living room with the Vikings game on in the background.  I would pose us, balance the camera on a stack of books, get the correct lighting/exposure, put the self timer on, and tell him to look for 10 secs while the camera ticked down to the SNAP.  After the picture snap, I would check the camera and see the finished product.  We did this for about 90 minutes and this was the best that we got.   Completely awkward pose of our backyard framed by our picture window.  How embarrassing!
I was frustrated because the last 90 minutes seemed wasted.  So Evan agreed to try another set up.

It took only 30 minutes to have a successful picture and some fun memories! By the end our glasses were plum-full of marshmallows since we had drank all the hot cocoa from our glasses, our top lips burned from trying to capture a "sipping hot chocolate" photo with a 10 second timer, and our second Christmas Card was created.
Merry Christmas!!
