1.) An interaction with my manager during our bi-weekly 1:1.
Manager - "When I come to work I put my work pants on. Not my fun pants."
Me (thinking silently) - "I thought work was suppose to be fun..."
My interaction with the VP, which by the way he thought was a top quote that he had ever heard :)
"As my manager told me earlier 'I put my work pants on when I come to work. Not my fun pants.' However, I thought work was suppose to be fun. Someday I hope work is fun."
2.) Another interaction with my manager during another bi-weekly 1:1.
Manager - "Forward everything that you think may be important to the team or me. Heck, you may be considered a really smart person because you know something that we don't know."
Me (thinking silently)- "Okay, I'll send everything out!"
Later that week…
I received an email from an ESPN account asking about who to talk to about the company sponsoring a rodeo. My first thought - "I'll forward it out to the team!" Done! Within seconds my boss was emailing me telling me that I had just forward spam. He thought I was being a smart one, but in reality I was being sincere. Once I realized my misunderstanding/mistake I decided to go along with the idea that it was joke. Ever since then I have not been forwarding as many emails.
Work is grand.
