Engaged!

Let's settle in for a nice mushy, romantic story because
EVAN AND I ARE ENGAGED!!!

Now see, I had been bugging Evan for months about which rings I liked and how much I want to marry him.  I even sent him links to online stores and went to Wink's Fine Jewelry to set aside "suggestions."  Yes, I was obsessed.  No, he was not thrilled by my actions :)

Proposal
Tonight at 5:30p.m. I returned home from the Wellness Center, switched into pajamas, set out my thesis, and made oatmeal with bananas.  I wasn't too thrilled for any of this.  So when Evan called and asked if I wanted dinner and go on a walk, I jumped at the chance.  However, I told him I was going to come over in my pajamas and I was still nasty from my run.  Side note: my pajamas are fleece purple, blue, black and white striped pants.  I put my oatmeal in the fridge… do not do that because leftover oatmeal is nasty… and started heading to the door.  Suddenly it dawned on me maybe a 25 year old should not walk down the street in multi-colored pants.  I hurried back and changed.

When I got to Evan's I was expecting to eat right away.  However, Evan was going to slow cook the chicken breast and we would go on the walk first.  I left my cell phone and we were off.  Evan asked if I wanted to walk anywhere in particular and I didn't really care.

So while we were walking we held hands.  Usually this lasts for 15 minutes and than my hand gets too sweaty.  However, we kept holding hands and I thought "man, he must really like me tonight."  We started towards McCory Gardens and I dominated the talk with work, thesis, and everything else under the sun.

When we got to McCory I thought maybe he would proposed so I let him walk in front of me so I could check out his pant pockets - only to see if there was a box in his back pocket!!  To my dismay only his wallet was in his back pockets.  We strolled through the gardens pointing out plants and looking at the new visitor center.

While walking through an archway and I started to exclaim that "the best part of my weekend is going to be…" Evan cut me off and told me to wait.  He got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and proposed!  All I could think was "omgoodness gracious he proposed before my thesis was done!"  I tried to cry, but my happiness and giggles prevailed :)

In case anyone was wondering what I was going to say - it was that I was so happy I did not have to haul 200 pink, helium balloons to the Kick Pink Cancer game on Friday because I was going to drive Scoot.  This is WAY BETTER!

Prior to the Engagement
It turns out that Evan has had the ring since July.  I cannot believe he put up with my constant questions of if he was going to propose!  On Sunday he asked my mom if he could have my hand in marriage.  Let me tell you, I can about imagine my mom's excitement :)

As for when he was going to propose he said was going to wait for the perfect time.  Tonight while leaving work at 6:00p.m., he decided it was a beautiful night to propose and to go for a walk.  I agree, tonight was the perfect night :)

I'm so in love with you, Mallow!
