Ever bake something and you feel you forgot something? I do all the time, and I usually do forget something.
Yesterday Evan and I were back in Webster visiting my family and I had this grand idea to make Evan cookies. Picture this: Evan taking a nap, a sweet aroma floating from the kitchen and SURPRISE! CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES! I was so excited! But it didn't happen like that.
As I put in all the flour I noticed that the 4 cups was changed to 5. Well I lost count so I just kept adding. I think it turned into 5.5 cups. Oh well, fluffy is good. But something was wrong.. the dough was almost crumbly. Steve, Landon, and mom were watching me and waiting to devour the dough. I thought maybe a little moisture like water would help it.. you know like you put water in play-dough to make it stick together. Same thing. Anyways I asked them what they thought and instantly Steve said "NO!…wait do it, I want to see this." I didn't add it because of the joy my brothers would have in teasing me.
The dough was complete and my family swarmed in like hungry dinosaurs. Yeah, I double the recipe and I only get 48 cookies out of it. They do it because 1.) When I was younger I would spaz out because I don't want the dough to be gone before the cookies… like I would literally carry the bowl around with me so they couldn't get to it and 2.) dough is delicious.
Anyways, I managed to make the first batch. The cookies looked super funny, but fluffy. After my brothers tasted it they told me to stick with the dough because the cookies weren't as good. Well by George, I knew Evan would eat them and be nice! I basically shoved two cookies in his face and told him to eat it to make me feel better. He did and said they tasted just fine :)
After I had made all the cookies I was still confused by why the cookies were funny looking and tasting. Re-thinking how I made them I realized I forgot the butter!! Oh Martha, I feel I will never learn.
They are healthier though because there is no butter, right?
At least it was fluffy.
