Today I saw a high school friend, that I greatly admire, laced up her shoes and ran a Minnesota marathon. This friend was never a runner in high school, but had the personality that would eventually lead to her picking up the past-time in college. I'm inspired so let's get a little crazy, eh?!
I plan on doing the Jacks 15 from White, SD, to Brookings, SD, on September 24, 2011.
THEN I plan on running a marathon in Mankota, MN, on October 22, 2011.
(If work does not release me from the football game, I will need to make other plans for the marathon. But I figure if I let them know far enough in advance I should be okay.) This also seems like a good tapering idea with the 15 miles one month before the actual marathon. Perfect!
I saw Stacy's support of friends cheering her on with signs and riding next to her. It looked completely awesome! I'm so jazzed right now! But first thing is first..
1.) Knee - I know I'll be in shape from the half marathon, so I'm not worried about that. I am slightly nervous though about my knee. Hopefully strength training will make it 'all better.'
2.) Conscious - Also I seriously want to be more conscious to NOT drink soda and bake cookies… I love soda and cookies. Like bury me in a pool of DC and sugar cookies and I would be in heaven. How disgusting is that?! HA… don't judge people.. you've all loved a good cookie after a long day!
I need to start thinking of being buried in water (maybe fizzy water.. baby steps, eh?) and apples. Uffda, this may take some time :)
3.) Constancy - I need to get some miles under me… a noon run of 5 miles probably won't cut it. So thank you Evan and Chad - I will not start crawling out of bed at 5:15 a.m. to train
4.) Different mindset - I want to do it just for a satisfaction that I did it. I need to get the competitiveness out and be happy that I am blessed enough to run.
5.) New music - I can only run to "Trading My Sorrows" so many times…
What is wrong with your knee?
ReplyDeleteEmily, you are too sweet! I am so touched!!
ReplyDeleteKeep me posted on your training and let me know if you need anything!
