Water Paint

I went swimming today.  Not swim, swim, but swimming.  I do this for like an hour and only do it when I have to work in the morning and afternoon.  It saves a ton of time getting ready twice.

Besides the point, I came charging through the pool door to be greeted with the bleachers packed.  I looked like a deer in the headlights.  No one else was swimming except the Chinese lady.  That wasn't anything new.  But why in the world were those kids sitting there staring at the pool?  I scooted to the 12 foot and just sat there.  I looked like a dumbstruck idiot and do not hid my confused looks well.  Then I realized what they were doing... they were art students drawing!  What the heck?!  Expectancy Violation Theory!!

I got in the water asap because the last thing I wanted was some college kids drawing me sitting on the edge.  Unfortunately I had selected to swim so I was not going under at all.  I felt so weird that they were watching/drawing the people in the pool.  So I did the counter of EVT, Interaction Adaption Theory.  Aka I stared at them.  It was actually pretty fascinating because they didn't want to make eye contact with me and I tried to give them all sorts of faces: happy, sad, determined....  I can't hold this look too long.  I am pathetic.  But I either looked like a complete idiot, or someone practicing for theater.  Whatever, my hour went by pretty quick and was entertained.

Soon they left and this older lady came into the deep end.  Luckily I had only ten minutes left.  She was practicing synchronized swimming moves.  Like kicking legs in the arm while upside down.  I was really interested but felt like a creeper for watching.  Why was she doing this... is there a team around Brookings?  If so way cool, but I would not survive.  Growing up I had to wear a nose plug.  That is not sexy.  Too much information.... I'm off.  Peace out kids.
