I had been looking forward to this for months. My mom and I were going to go have a girls weekend. I have never had a mother daughter weekend with my mom before. This year I never even went to Thanksgiving, or Webster for Easter, so this was going to be extra special. Almost like a holiday for me, it was something really important and my mom was going to share it with me.
Plans set. Hotel room booked. My entrance fee paid. Training 10 weeks was done. Now only 5 days until the big day.
Until I was told that she would like to go to a wedding reception in Aberdeen. She asked how long it would take for me to run the half, if we really needed to get there early to the race, etc. I knew she didn't want to go. I was really frustrated, but was trying to find a solution. I would leave work early on Friday to go up with her and than go to the wedding reception. Nope, that wouldn't work either. She said the bride's father only invited the other directors on the board. Well guess who she is bringing. Yep, the bride doesn't even know him. I pointed that out and said she should just take me since I knew the bride. Then again I was slammed. I was told to go rant to the bride and not her about who was invited and such.
So my long awaited journey will happen, just alone. Friday I will travel to Fargo, register, eat a pasta meal, turn in early to wake up and 13.1 miles. Maybe I will treat myself to a new dress, tennis shoes, or a frozen bananas :)
I know I can...
And will rock this.
