High!

I plan on running. A lot :) I have an idea! More to come ...

Okay I was so excited about this the entire day. I really have fought with the idea of running in a race because of a couple of dumb issues I have. The first being that I hate to lose. Yes, I would lose. Secondly, since I run quite often people expect me to be fast. This is not my case. I have the will power and stamina to run for long periods of time... not the quickest though. Finally I have never found someone to run with. Sure, if I asked Barb or maybe even Kyle, I'm sure they would entertain the idea for a run, but I know none of us are the same speed.

After toying with these drawbacks in racing, I outweighed the negatives.
1.) Yes I would lose to 9,499 other runners, but billions of people don't even lace up shoes, so I will win against them.
2.) Who cares... I'm not fast. But my heart is healthy and have a nice high from it.
3.) I guess my speech communcation major will come in handy because I'll just feed off the other runners and make a new buddy along the route.
4.) It would give me a purpose for my running
5.) I would get a t-shirt :) and bragging rights.

So my plan...
I would like to run the Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota, on June 19, 2010. It is a nice scenic route from Duluth to Two Harbors. After that I could scoot on up to Lutsen and visit Illena and Bryan, Jamie, Kristi, and other former co-workers while relaxing. The down side of this is that there are 9,500 runners allowed. So I would have to committ early. Last year I was gearing up for a half marathon but threw out my back a month prior to the race. I can still tell it is not back to normal (probably 75%) and it has been half a year. Another thing I'm nervous about is that I would have to work at that time.

Go Big, or Go Home? or half marathon.... input from the runners out there??
