7 games in 5 days

I just came off of a suppose-to-be 6 game home stand starting August 11th. However, it did not quite happen as planned. Two Thursdays ago, we had a rain out, so the Thursday game got moved to Friday, August 15 night. So I knew that there was going to be 7 games within 6 days. A lot on a person's place.

Tuesday was Reading Program Day. I thought the day was somewhat lame. So I threw up "reading rainbow" on the jumbo board. I also asked Alex to read from the Souvenir Program.

Wednesday was Middle Child Day / $1 Hot Dogs. So I forgot the middle children like they typically are and enhanced the $1 hot dogs. We had a running total going on the board. I also told Nate to dress up as a weiner and sell the dogs in the stands. It was awesome!! We sold 833 hot dogs to a Wednesday crowd!!!

Thursday was Used Car giveaway. (PICTURES TO COME). We had Cagey enter in a crazy 4 wheeler with Tyler driving as a rocker or something crazy. I also gave away mini cars to the kids. At the end of the night the contestant was driven off the field by one of the interns. As he was parking the vehicle (the contestant was too intoxicated to drive), he accidently locked the keys into the car. So Redi Towing -- the ones that donated the car -- got to see who actually won!

Friday was Friday night fireworks, double header, and Little Birds. The Little Birds were suppose to come at 7. Well one girl showed up at 5:40. I got to baby sit and be on the mic. But that was alright because she was so darn cute. It almost made me want a little sister :) It was a long yet short game. We were finished by 10 with everything, but we also opened the gates at 4. Uffda! Side note: It was the BEST BEST BEST fireworks yet. It made me tear up actually. How embarrassing!

Saturday was a Tribute to Classic Game Shows. What an awful night. The day did not start out good. I had the comments made that I was ill-prepared, too nice, and should give the mic to my intern. To my defense: I was prepared with games, in Sioux Falls it pays to be nice to the crowd instead of a butthead, and finally I don't trust others on the mic because if they mess up it is my head. Anyways, the night started with a delay of 20 minutes.

At 7:20 we kicked off. However, at the bottom of the second I was left in the tunnel by myself. Not a problem, but the BWW Chase the Chicken was in 1 out. So I stripped out of my jacket, and shoes and threw on the chicken suit. Threw a suit jacket and wig at the contestant, Carter, because he was going to be Regas, and ran out. The race was on. Not good.. I was going to let him catch me, however, I couldn't see out of the mask. He literally crushed me. Carter did a flying leap and knocked me out. I got a concussion and decent bruise on the arm. I just rolled on the ground wanting to forfeit but I managed to make my way back to the gate. When I got back, I asked Alex to just play music because I felt sick. The next inning the game was post-poned until Sunday. Couple of side notes: the crowd loved the tackle!! It's Monday night and I still have a headache and obtained some whiplash from it. Good story though :)

Everything I had worked for was cancelled. I broke down. Luckily Erin was nice enough to just listen and offer words of encouragement. She honestly has been the one I feel that has been in my corner the entire time. Went out for a couple of drinks with the crowd. I ended up staying out till 2. Good times!

Sunday was continuous of Game Show Night and Two Dead Fat Guys.

Pause. Bed time. Pics to come :)
